New edition of Art&Science talks at Skolkovo Technopark: on January 29 at 7 pm (Moscow time) we will meet with American bio artist Lyndsey Walsh and talk about her creative practice.
Advancements made in science and technology are continuously changing what the world’s future may be like. American artist, designer, researcher, and writer Lyndsey Walsh uses her creative practice to chart out these potential futures, ask questions about the ethical implications of these technologies, and reflect on the history of science, medicine, and society.
In this artist talk, she dives into the journey her creative practice has undertaken to explore the quagmire of social and cultural entanglements with disease, genetics, stem cells, public health, and more.
This talk will give a behind the scenes look into Lyndsey’s creative practice and research, as well as her experience in collaborative work with different scientific institutions around the world. She will also open the discussion about the future and current directions of her upcoming projects.
Lyndsey Walsh is an American artist, designer, researcher, and writer based in Berlin, DE. Her practice primarily deals with new media as well as living and biological materials, and she implements many processes of artistic inquiry into hands-on laboratory experiments. Her work often places a critical lens on the politics and ethics of working with living materials and non-human and human «bodies», as well as the knowledge systems that are built from them.
